My College Options Transferable courses taken at a community college are awarded extra grade points in the admission process, just as Advanced Placement and certified honors courses are. However, the university limits the number of honors-level courses you can accrue to eight semesters. In addition to the extra grade points earned, units from transferable community college courses are applied toward your UCI degree. If you attend a summer session immediately after graduating from high school, you are still considered a freshman applicant. We consider all information provided in your application, including your answers to the personal insight questions. Your first step is to submit an application for admission online. After that, requirements vary depending on whether you are a recent high school graduate, student transferring from another institution or returning adult. Rice University awards transfer credit for International Baccalaureate examinations for students who hold the International Baccalaureate Diploma and have obtained a score of 6 or 7 on higher level exams. Students who are unable to submit test scores or prefer not to submit test scores will be given full consideration in the admission selection process. Completion of a high school diploma prior to enrollment is required for all new incoming students. Students who have elected to take time off from schooling between graduating from high school and enrolling in college are considered first-year candidates. The application for students looking to enroll in fall 2020 is still open. The application for students looking to enroll in fall 2021 will open on August 1, 2020. Students admitted to Rice but not selected for the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program may still apply to Baylor College of Medicine or any other medical school following their Rice undergraduate experience.
